EA GROUP DONATES TO KOME SCHOOLS

 

A group of young men and women from the six communities in the Kome enclave (that is, Atito, Latame, Alakple, Fiaxor, Kodzi and Deta) on Friday, November 12, 2021 have donated some 121 Mathematical sets worth GHC800.00 to 120 final year students in the various junior high schools in Kome.

Kome Citizens Association formed in the year 2020 purposely to champion developmental course for the Kome precinct, decided to help Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates with Mathematical Sets to enable them prepare well for the ongoing examination which started on Monday.

Speaking to the Third Eye News Gh, Mr. Dagbui Gilbert Fiame, who is the interim president of the association said the kind  gesture was to equip the candidates before the examination.  "The group decided to support the candidates with the Mathematical Sets because they will need it when it is time for Mathematics and Basic Design and Technology (BDT) subjects" he said. He further stated that, this is one in series of projects the association has intented to undertake as plans are far advance in constructing an ultramodern Police Post at the Kome Junction to compliment security status of the Kome towns. Mr. Fiagbeto John who led the team to the five schools for the donations also advised the pupils to take their studies seriously as they are the future stars for Kome.

The beneficiary schools include Atito E.P Basic School, Alakple R.C Basic School, Kodzi E.P Basic School, Fiaxor A.M.E Zion School and Genui E. P Basic School.

The headmasters of the various schools which benefitted from the donations expressed their profound gratitude to the association for the benevolent gesture. They used the opportunity to call upon other compassionate organizations to emulate the disposition of Kome Citizens Association.

I am highly excited and we promise to excel in this year's BECE.." said Wonder Agbanyo, School Prefect, Atito E.P Basic School.

The Assembly Members for Kodzi and Alakple Electoral area respectively, were part of the team that went round to distribute the mathematical sets to the candidates, they used the opportunity to encourage the pupils to study hard in order to come out with flying colors in the examination. 

A total number of 571,894 candidates began this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) on Monday, November 15, 2021, which ends on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 2,158 centres nationwide.

A total of 531,707 and 517,332 candidates sat for the examination in 2020 and 2019, respectively.
