My District Should Benefit From Year Of Roads Too

Journalist and social commentator, Jay Benedict has voiced out his frustration on the nature of  some roads located in the Anloga District of the Volta Region.

In a letter addressed to the District Chief Executive of the area Hon. Seth Yormewu, sighted by Jubileeradio.net, the young and versatile journalist bemoan the terrible nature of Anyanui – Savietula road and its negative impact on residents who are predominantly vegetable farmers.

He challenged the DCE to see to it that Anloga District is not left out of the Governments’ “Year of roads”  promise.

Below is the full letter:

Dear Hon. Seth Yormewu (DCE, Anloga District),

LET ANLOGA DISTRICT NOT BE LEFT OUT IN THE “YEAR OF ROADS” PROMISE.

I took a roller-coaster trip to Anyanui market on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 and will like to draw your attention to the bad nature of Savietula-Anyanui Road.

This particular road, link notable communities such as Savietula, Atorkor, Akplorwotorkor, Dzita, Agbledomi, Anyanui, Atiteti, Fumeve, Tunu, Bomigo and Gblife. The inhabitants of these communities are predominantly vegetable farmers and fisher folks who use this road on daily basis to transport their products to far and near markets.

Hon., Anyanui market is in arguably the second largest market in your district, attracting traders from as far as Ada, hence, contributing largely to the IGF of the assembly. Traders who pay taxes deserve better roads than what I witnessed last Wednesday.

This road leads to some of the finest places of attraction in your district; tourism: the Atorkor Slave Monument, the estuary; hospitality facilities: Meet Me There, the Chill etc.

Oh lest I forget, it was this same area where that strange ship docked last year, you were allegedly bribed and you allowed it to be dismantled on the shore without any proper consultation. Those heavy duty vehicles which cart away the dismantled ship caused most of the potholes on the road.

As said by our president “…2020 is the year of roads”. I know, not even corona virus can distract you from fixing this road (in Dr. Bawumia’s voice).

I’m a good citizen not a spectator.

Shalom..!
