The mystic Tɔgbi Etsɛ Tsaɖia alias Tsali Boglo Agbeŋgɔ, the son of Detoe Akplɔmada and grandson of Tsamla and great grandson of Kegblẽaƒe was the progenitor of Tsiameawo Clan and iconic figure in Aŋlɔs history.
Tsali's ancestry dated back to Hogbe (Ŋɔtsie). He was a mysterious person who ended his stay on earth by turning into a god.
Tsali was a spiritualist, a healer and a famed mystic of his time. The peculiar powers he possessed and manifested won both converts and enemies.
According to oral tradition, during the flight of Eʋeawo from Ŋɔtsie, Tɔgbi Tsali transformed himself into mice and crawled through the footprints to look like old footprints '"ETSƆAFƆWO".
At Aguto near Agume-Kpalime, on the peak of Agu hills Tsali left a covered calabash (Akpakuvi) which opens and shuts at regular interval to this day.
At Matsɛ-Tsiƒe and Aɖaklu-Ahlõeƒe, making spots where the great mystic Tsali slipped and fell, a bold imprint of Tsali's full five fingers known as ASIATƆKPE in Eʋe can be found.
There are shrines to his memory at Tsiame and Aɖaklu. A third shrine once flourished at Kɔmedzralɛ near Ho but is now at Akoeƒe.
Tsali once traversed the following Tɔŋu communities: Bakpa, Tefle, Mɛƒe, Agave and Aʋakpeɖome. During his short stay at those communities, Tsali farmed mysteriously. By his supernatural powers he could perform following feat in a day: clear the forest by working on the land with his mystery "KODZIKLĨ" after praying over it, cause rain to fall only on his farm, plant corn by broadcast, harvest the corn and store the dry corn in a formidable granary.
This act caused a great famine in the Tɔŋuland. The whole of Tɔŋu met and and decided to eliminate Tsali. He was chopped into pieces and buried in a deep grave. The villagers prepared a herbal concortion and washed their hands with this prayers: "eƒé ʋu ne nɔ̃ tadzi na eya ŋutɔ́" which literally means "may his blood be upon his head" as they dip their hands into the concortion.
Early in the morning of the third day, Tsali was seen clad in white and sitting in front of his house pulling thick puffs of his "zĩ" (pipe). Tsali's mystic powers were acknowledged and he was declared incorrigible when he continued to farm as mysteriously as before.
The Tɔŋuwo met again and decided to this time around drown Tsali. Tsali before his arrest had gathered all his personal effects into a haversack and slung it over his shoulder. At the meeting, he was tied hands and feet with a weight of granite rocks hung over his neck and fastened to his back. Tsali was drowned in the Lower Volta.
On the third day, some fishermen saw Tsali as he moved on the waters floating on the back of "Lo" (crocodile) that he had commanded to come to his rescue.
Floating adrift on the crocodile's back, he held aloft all the granite rocks in his hands, he was heard shouting "VINƆWO MIKPƆ VI ƉA" meaning "MOTHERS BEHOLD YOUR CHILD"
There was great consternation in the village: fishermen abandoned their canoes while women yelled and screamed calling others to come and witness.
Tsali has decided to leave Tɔŋuwo. The villagers to stupified as Tsali parted ways with the crocodile and took the road with all that clumsy load of rocks and the haversack with contained a mysterious drum called "Haʋui" and other accessories . He travelled by way of Agave to eventually entered Aŋlɔ by way of Deta which is south-west of Alakple and Kodzi.
