NUGBIDODO IN EƲES, MEANS RECONCILIATION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

Nugbidodo

Nugbidodo- in Eʋe, means reconciliation in English language.

Nugbidodo is an Eʋe traditional practice where disagreeing parties, clans ( clansmen), elders, people or even married couple are brought together after a settlement of a dispute.
Most significantly, nugbidodo is part of the annual Hogbetsotsoza celebrations of the Anlo- Eʋes, usually done the last Saturday preceding the grand durbar.
The Eʋes believe that bearing grudges with one another bring bad omen, diseases, disunity, and underdevelopment to its peoples. This position is strengthened by the Lord's Prayer, "...and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us...", an important line in any libation recitals in Ewe. We're further admonished in Eph. 4: 26, not to let the sun go down on our anger.
Scientifically, anger and hatred are unhealthful. Feelings of rage and hatred build up in the mind, body, and soul. These negative emotions breed more other toxic emotions, affect the bodies organs, and natural processes.
Prolong anger results in high blood pressure, anxiety, stress, headaches, and poor circulation. Our forefathers had long known the negative effects of bearing grudges before science proved it.
The ancestors had put nugbidodo in place to avert these harmful consequences of animosity and bitterness.
As noted above, there are clearly cultural, religious and scientific reasons why extended anger and hatred are bad for our wellbeing.
