STATEMENT ON THE REPORTED ENSTOOLMENT OF A 'KING" AND A "QUEEN" FOR ANLO

The attention of the Anlo Traditional Council has been drawn to some spurious reports, especially in social media purporting to the installation of a "King" and a “Queen" have been enstooled for the people of Anlo by Loafe Clan of Anlo.

The Anlo Traditional Council hereby states the following facts without any equivocation;

1. The people of Anlo do not enstool a "King” and neither do we enstool a “Queen" Instead we enstool "Fia”

2. Consequent to a visit to me by a Delegation of Elders of the Loafe Clan seeking my endorsement of the installation forms for them to install Togbi Wenya, I declined request since there is no established precedence in Anlo Chieftaincy Structure and arrangement for the "Togbi Wenya" stool. Instead of the endorsement that they were seeking. I advised them to appear before the Research Committee of the Traditional Council to make their case for consideration since as the old Anlo saying goes,
"'Eka xoxoa wo nue we gbea yeyea wo do."

3. As far as I am aware, the Loafe Clan Elders are yet to appear before the Research Committee. The Awoamefia of Anlo, Togbi Sri Ill, is - and remains - the overlord of the Anlo Dukor, and all chiefs of the 36 states of Anioland continue to pledge allegiance to the Awoamefia, as the principal leader of all Anlos.

4. The Anlo Traditional Council urges all Anlos and all concerned to stay calm, vigilant, and united, for the progress, development, and prosperity of our people, the land, and the country.
