Turkish President expected in Senegal for inauguration of the new stadium

A few months after his visits to Nigeria and other African countries, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has once again set foot on African soil. In the process, he is expected in Senegal for the opening ceremony of the new Stadium.

During his four-day tour starting Sunday the day he arrives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Erdoğan will also visit Senegal and Guinea Bissau.



During his visit to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, President Tayyip Erdoğan will attend the opening ceremony of Diamniadio Olympic Stadium built by a Turkish company.

The country’s authorities had set the date of Tuesday, February 22, 2022 for the inauguration of this facility.

The infrastructure, which cost the country of Sadio Mané €238 million, has a capacity of 50,000 places, according to the leaders.


The Head of State will also inaugurate the new embassy building in the capital.

From Senegal, Erdoğan will head for Guinea-Bissau. A visit that will mark the first official visit of a President of Turkey to this West African country.
