MESSAGE FOR FATHER'S DAY 2020
True Fatherhood Is by Conferment, Not by Assumption!

As the virus-imprisoned world marks Father's Day today, our thoughts and prayers are with all responsible fathers and father figures, and all whose fathers have long gone to sleep with their fathers. Even as we do this needful, let us remember: True fatherhood is by conferment, not by assumption!!!
Real fatherhood is not a state that is assumed, it is a grace that is bestowed. True fatherhood is not a level that is attained, it is a blessing that is conferred. Actual fatherhood is not a stage that is reached, it is a gift that is given. Genuine fatherhood is not a height that is arrived at, it is an honour that is imparted.
This means, not all males who father their biological children are actually fathers. Not all potent men who are able to turn orgasms into fetuses are truly fathers. That is why the childless or impotent father can also boast of genuine fatherhood. No male individual can alone lay claim to true fatherhood.
Why? All fatherhood is a participation in, or call it "a subsidiary" of, the ultimate fatherhood of God. He (God) confers authentic fatherhood on filial yet frail men, unmeritorious though. He calls them to catch a glimpse of and partake in his quintessential fatherhood. Happy Father's Day to all who are religiously keeping to this onerous, yet rewarding task of participatory fatherhood. God bless!
